To use Checkout on Facebook and Instagram, you need to use Shopify Payments, or Shop Pay for third-party gateways.

Payments from orders placed using Checkout on Facebook and Instagram are managed in your Shopify admin. 

Shopify Payments

Checkout on Facebook and Instagram is powered by Shopify Payments. Using Shopify Payments lets you keep all of your payment processes in one place. Shopify Payments eliminates the hassle of setting up a third-party payment provider or merchant account and having to enter the credentials into Shopify.

If your store has Shopify Payments enabled, then you receive payments through Shopify Payouts when a customer pays using Checkout on Facebook and Instagram.

Shop Pay for third-party gateways

If you don't have Shopify Payments enabled and instead use a different payment provider, then you can enable Shop Pay for third-party gateways. Shop Pay for third-party gateways enables Shop Pay as an accelerated checkout for your online store, Facebook, and Instagram.

If your online store is in the United States and meets Shopify Payments requirements, then you can enable Shop Pay for your third-party gateway.

When Shop Pay for third-party gateways is enabled in your store, you receive payments through Shopify Payouts when a customer pays using Checkout on Facebook and Instagram.
